Midweek Cycle; Surly ECR = `Equine Companion Rig`

Midweek cycle and headed into the Lammermuir hills for a cycle along with Francis and friend Mark on the Endurance horses...

One of 2 steep climbs we did, those that rant about 1 x drive chains wanna come try ride up around here!...

22t x 36t 1st gear still struggled!...

But up on top of the big hill, Wester Dod the views were great...

The trails were a combination of peat,  rough tracks, heather and all great going on the 29+ ECR...

Phase 2 of the Wind Turbines underway...

With works in  progress so no access at present we turned round and headed towards Blackcastle Hill and to then loop round back to Aitkengall...

Wester Dod Trig Point on the summit...

Rainbow of a passing shower...

Onwards down hill...

And descending to climb up to near the tower in the distance, to them descend  the track you can see...

First back down that corker of a climb....

More fun this way!...

Heading for Blackcastle hill...

Oldhamstocks village...

And up the old tarmac road climb, easy after the off road climbs of earlier...

We cut off here to descend back down...

View across to where we had just been, and  look at that sweet descent!, worthy of a film!...

Down across the field and freewheeling to the track to the valley floor...

And ahead after a short climb to Aikengall farm it was back to the cars, 3 1/2 hours including driving and a great 8 mile evening ride in our hills...

More soon...
