Harvest...

i had come to the conclusion Aliens had been harvesting fields in East Lothian...
you cycle to work and pass a golden field of barly, you ride home and pass the same field now harvested..but no sign of combines..and no sooner are the fields cut then there bailed and the bales stacked to the side and the field is disc harrowed awaiting the plough...
then i saw two of them this morning quietly hiding in a corner...

and what a lovely morning to cycle to work, early enough to stop and take pics...

a pro photographer will tell you not to take photos direct into the sun...why not?

the old tree i have passed for the last 14 years has finally gave up and produced no leaves this year...but still the crows love it...

then at work this affy i finally witnessed one working in the bank field- a combine!
and here's why fields are cut so quickly now, look at the cutter width, twice the size from "when i was a lad" a field like this will take no more than a couple of hours with this...

rode to North Berwick tonight and some more pics..my favourite time of year around here scenically...

  2. S'funny - I was thinking the same thing about not having seen any combine harvesters this year until just the other day. It's been as if te farmers have been using witchcraft or something on the fields.

Great sunset last night too wasn't it.........
