Hogmany this year was a sober affair for myself as doing driving duties later today due to family hospital stuff,
Traditionally Your not supposed to have a drink until the bells chime at midnight - hence the saying `toasting the New Year`. I was in bed before midnight and long gone in the land of nod as the bells chimed, to get up early and do my annual dawn beach ride, no booze means a good nights sleep -:)
This year i rode west from North Berwick the 8 miles out to the reserve and Aberlady Bay to visit the WW2 mini submarine wrecks, then rode east non stop back along the coast to NB.
At 9am the town of North Berwick was deserted!, be a lot of sore heads around here later today after Hogmany celebrations, The silence was earie, it was kind of like the start of the film 28 Days Later
"HELLO!" -:)
Riding west out of town, sunrise just after 9am by the time it clears the Lammermuir Hills...
Out across the Reserve to the coast...
Touchdown...
There will be a lot of sore heads today up the coast at Edinburgh....
No one else out here...
WW2 mini subs appearing out the retreating tide....
You can read a bit about the history of these submarine wrecks and how they came to be here over On my other blog
Time for a wee sip of Glenmorangie to toast the New Year, Slange! -:) ...
Then the ride east 8 or 9 miles along the coast to NB with my own thoughts for company...
Happy New Year!!
