L ocal snowride,snowy nightride home...
Went out 2 hours after work up the local ridge road with a loop i often do around the Garleton hills.i hoped to get some sunset pics but the clearing sky again clouded over from the west,it was an hour to sunset so would get some night riding on snow coming back,
a half mile of tarmac from home and I'm off road onto the ridge road for a 3 mile loop...
High cloud out over the north sea reflected the low sun,up on the Garletons was looking like a fresh covering of snow, wasn't much up here at weekend, just a dusting...
Up on the ridge road the snow was good to ride on,dry as it was quite cold...
South east across to Traprain Law looked deep too..
I stopped at the vaults and walked north to take a pic of them and the ridge ahead...
Funny how snow makes hills look bigger...
Sun was about to disappear now behind cloud, would be getting colder again soon...
Heading up the ridge road i took a pic of these old dead trees, they wont be here forever, trees on a skyline always make a good picture...
Up at Barney hill beside the transmitter masts i had a brew..liking this wee flask..
Yells and screams came from over at the monument where there were sledgers...
Over up on Lammerlaw there is still a lot of snow, that's where i was on Saturday at the cairn and trig point...
And the closed road i rode up over on Sunday is on the right of this pic...
I continued on another section of the old ridge road between the present roads...
Then from the monument car park cut through fields (grass) to the old disused quarry..
And back to Barney Mains...
After a wee push uphill!...
20 miles west the lights of Edinburgh lighting the darkening sky...
Down the ridge road and a chilling freewheel for 2 minutes...cold after sweating,it was dark as i returned up the trail to Athelstaneford..
Last trail before home and the night sky glowed to the west with Edinburgh's lights that must be reflecting in the approaching snow forecast for tonight..yippee!!
Right! Thats it! It is now official. Coastrider- you make me sick!
ReplyDeleteLook at me. See that sick green tinge around my gills? That isn't envy, oh no. It is me being sick of Coastrider rubbing it in all the time- "Look at me! I got a Surly Pugsley! I got good beaches to ride on. I got good trails to ride on in the snow."
