This year November 11th falls on Remembrance Sunday...
Here in the UK we remember the sacrifices of service men and woman in past and present conflicts with 2 minutes silence at 11am...
Where ever you live here in the UK you are not far from a War Memorial...
Our cemeteries now have a sign at the entrance if they are the resting places of Commonwealth War Graves...
Many of these graves are young people who came from all around the Commonwealth to fight for our country and were killed here in the UK in training accidents, this loss of life seems even more tragic...
War graves at Dirleton cemetery of 20 servicemen killed here in East lothian in WW2...
Pilots killed in accidents while at RAF Drem nearby. Look at their ages...
British and Commonwealth soldiers lie buried all around the world from World War conflicts, far from their homes and families...
My Mums father - my bloodline Grandfather, was a Gordon Highlander and is buried at Venray War Cemetery near Arnhem in the Netherlands.
He was killed in 1944 during Operation `Market Garden`.
In August 2014 i hope to trace his journey by bicycle across Holland as the regiment fought to try and break through to the 1st Airborne Division who were encircled at Arnhem in 1944,
I want to tell my Grandfathers story and of his famous regiment and his friends who were so close to making it though the war, and payed the ultimate price for victory and freedom,
and to visit his grave at Venray on the 70th Anniversary of Operation Market Garden...
This Sunday i will visit more of the Commonwealth War Grave cemeteries like Dirleton in East lothian while out cycling and pay my respects to these servicemen who are buried here far from their homes and families...
Everyone seems to be so busy nowadays and wrapped up in their own lives,
Take the time to give these young people 2 minutes silence on Sunday no matter how busy you are with your life.
They gave a lot more so you could live the life you do here today in our country...
Here is an interesting story i came across on Vimeo...

Well written Bruce, liking that poppy field pic at the top and I always think of remembrance when I have biked through fields like these....
