So today is officially the last day of Summer in Scotland, tomorrow (Sunday 22nd September) is the Autumnal Equinox and day and night are roughly of the same time...
The Endless Summer of 2013;
For SE Scotland it has been the endless summer, so many days of big skies and dry weather, i have loved it and have made the most of it...
One of the best summers i can remember, for the weather and my hobbies, esp riding fatbikes and what my hobbies have brought me this year, which is great times , often shared with like minded people,
Been nice how people who have come up to me and riding friends when out on the coast cycling or in our seaside towns and villages and said they heard the Radio Scotland Out of Doors broadcast on beach riding, or read the article in the Edinburgh Evening News prior to Forth Fat UK Fatbike Gathering,
People we meet say they like what we do and it looks cool fun, and they like the concept of the low impact footprint were always on about, and some have said they enjoy reading the blogs and pictures, and the wee films of here in East Lothian.
Forth Fat Fatbike Gathering;
An amazing weekend just before summer kicked in but it was summertime weather!. We did it and had the biggest gathering of fatbikes to date in Europe - 42!. Thanks to everyone who made it, and meeting everone, friends old and new was really nice.
Eric and Tyler from Surly Bikes coming to Forth Fat along with Pat from ISON to East Lothian and riding our coast and checking our our scene, that was really cool, not to mention a present of a set of offset Krampus 29+ wheels for my Pugsley, and that has been great riding the old pug again -:).
The Forth Fat gathering is something i am going to do every spring time now, on the same format as this years Forth Fat, next years Forth Fat 2014 date will be organised and put up at Xmas and will be the same format in keeping with the the original UK Fatbike Gathering and as Forth Fat the theme will be coastal cycling.
Blog;
This year this blog has gone global with usually 800 - 1200 views per day from all around the world. One day there was over 2300 views!. Thanks to all that have a look in and i hope you enjoy a slice of life of here in East Lothian, our little county with amazing scenery, coast, history and all under a big sky. Life is good...
Last Summer Ride...
I was up at 4am today as a weekend on at work and the skies looked promising as i mowed greens in the dark as the sky lightened and turned pink as sunrise approached...
Then it became overcast...
So the last ride of this summer was supposed to be under a big clear sky but it would be mostly overcast, Oh well, but hey this is Scotland and we cannot choose the weather controlled by the Atlantic drift and North Sea here in East Lothian.
Eddie popped round with the van and drove then rode from North Berwick.
Eddie has been busy working i am a bit burned out with all the non stop cycling so were both happy to cut out the trails to and home from the coast to ride our Pugsley fatbikes...
We rode west from North Berwick Town...
And onto the John Muir Way, ahead someone had just ridden on a Surly Krampus - 29+ 3" Knard tyre treads...
Ground is bone dry...
Through Yellowcraig woods, school arts project?, or something a bit Blair Witchy going on?...
Up the single track of the JMW and harvest glimpses between trees...
Along to Gullane Village and ice cream and juice at Cools...
Skies now overcast as we rode east along from Gullane...
Down across Freshwaterhaven beach and we started following a fatbikes tracks, Surly Nates and the rider too was riding east as we were, both centre treads show that, fatbike tracking -:) ...
Shipwrecked...
We stopped for a look around the caves and the driftwood den...
Canny beat Scottish banter -:)
Back on the coast and we soon saw who was leaving tracks in front...
Friend Craig has got himself a Pugsley Ops, and in real light away from shop lights it looks ace...
And we cruised to North Berwick...
And had chips...
And a play -:)
And one more ice cream....
Peace... -:)
We will call you Detective Coastkid!
ReplyDeleteThe Knard tracks would be mine as I headed from North Berwick along to Longniddry then over to Haddington! :-)
26 x 3.8 on a 9:zero:7 but we will let you off! :-)
I also spotted Craig's Nate tracks in Yellowcraigs carpark over some fresh dirt they have put down and had a scout about in the woods but he must have been off along the coast.
Hi Mark, aye saw your post on the forum this morning!, knew they were Knards! -:)
