Stormy Saturday cycle-avoiding the breeze...
Unless you have had your head buried in a Rabbit hole to not notice there has been some stormy weather hitting the UK...
Been a wild week and it`s not over yet. I cycled every day into work!, so although today dawned with another forecast of wild weather i was still going out-it`s the weekend!...
The winds of Thursday night left a hole in the roof of my back door lean-too!,,
There is always somewhere to go cycle whatever the weather, and i headed just along the road to the local woods to get out the gales...
Wet after all the heavy rain showers it is a bit muddy in the woods but so wet tyres clear of mud quickly...
Despite not having the big chunky Surly Nates on the old Pugsley i still managed forward progress through the slop with the odd dab as it spun out...
Out the woods and down to Tyninghame woods and the coast... lovely blue winter sky...
Around to the salt marsh...
And through the woods...
And around Sandy Hirst point where things were a bit wild out of the shelter of the woods...
Less of a footprint than human..
Across the Tyne Estuary the sands were blowing in the gale... be heading over there tomorrow...
Around the point and sheltered again, and some high tides have moved a lot of sand covering stones and pebble shore often here...
Along to the woods again...
And at St Baldreds Cradle it was fully exposed as i rode around to Peffersands...
Not many people out today!, i headed inland avoiding the head wind and headed back home through the woods again...
A fun couple of hours and despite all the mud and gloop in the woods the old Pugsley was surprisingly clean...
The Alfine 8 spd IGH is ideal for out in these conditions...
Tea and the last of the Xmas cake... good to have got out and got some miles in...
More soon...
Looks a beautiful golden day up there. And a lovely ride too :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Georgie, was lovely, but a real cold wind when out of the woods!
