It`s all 29+ this week!, what with the Surly ECR frame set getting built up, and good friend Mike H who left me his Surly Krampus for a couple of weeks to play on. Fitted with a Fox fork and set up tubeless i was looking forward to riding this around the local trails.
This bike i have already had a brief ride on when it was brand new, this was bought new by Richie from Newcastle and it was indeed a hooligan bike! :)
Being real busy at work after a long weekend hols for Forth Fat has meant just some short rides on the Krampus, but that has been fun as the trails around here are ideal for my 29+ bike- the Surly Krampug, same wheels but offset built to fit my Pugsley Fatbike,
The Krampus uses regular MTB hubs and 73mm width cranks,
Best way to describe it is a real comfy ridged MTB, with trail geometry...
Which is fun indeed, loads of rolling with those big wheels, tons of grip, and a comfortable ride from the low pressure tyres...
Here is an early bike show film of the Krampus, again by Eric at Surly :)
So a quick spin on the Krampus and a 1/4 mile from my home is all this...
One fun bike,
Next evening after work i rode down to Tyninghame...
I made a wee film with the Go pro camera,
I had the light setting wrong and the film is a bit overexposed in the sunny (again) coastal light, and i forgot to unlock the forks-doh!, but this thing still honks on through the trees on tight trails...
Songs are; `You have been disconnected` by The Brian Johnston Massacre, and `Supernova` by Pico
Be out tomorrow night on the ECR with a botched build just to get it rolling along with friend Craig on the Krampus...
More soon...
