Old Pugsley; It`s rolling again!
After a real busy week and no cycling i was keen to get out on Saturday, Friday evening i finished rebuilding the old Pugsley, yeah i know i was going to get it powder coated `Thunderbird Grey` again but its all money and it has some cool old stickers you cannot get anymore and with all the spare parts in orange i decided to stick with my trademark black and orange, basically it looks just the new Pugsley!...
Budget build with LX rear hub-if i destroy the freewheel i can swap the wheels and single speed it home!, i have another two LX rear hubs so may as well use them up. £28 Shimano square taper crank arms on a £40 On One 100mm square taper BB, and £12 SORA rear mech, £11 steel Deore cassette, £14 Sram 661 chain, brakes lifted off the new Pug-it got new BB7`s and its rolling...
Stem and seat post are Race Face `Ride`. Won a Brooks Cambium on eBay for £46!,
Free grips that Gary B gave me, the bars i swapped out on the new Pug, it now has 750mm FUNN `Full On` bars, this pair are cut to 735mm, narrower are probably better for someone riding a fatbike for the first time, this bike is going to be a loaner bike/winter bike...
Repaired fork, if you rode BMX in the 80`s then you too won`t have a problem riding a welded up steel bike, it was the norm back then! :)
Saturday i had a quick shake down ride around the local Binning Woods, the usual adjusting levers etc. i am waiting on a BBB fork steerer extension to raise the bars a bit but apart from that the old Pugsley is riding nice and refuses to retire!,
Home for an afternoon with the feet up...
Saturday night at the movies-natures TV...
Sunday i was down to my local beach-Peffersands for sunrise at 7am-early bird catches the worm and all that!...
It was cold and crisp with a frost but the wet sand reflected the morning light and i had the whole beach to myself, bliss...
I tired out the FUJI sports compact with the sports fish eye lens and mono pod to do a little filming. The camera was struggling to stay focus as you will see in the film below but unlike my old Go Pro HERO 2 camera you do get sound, it does pick up the wind noise, but you do hear the surf, and the drone of the chunky Surly Nate tyres!
