"Blistering Barnacles!" Across the mud flats of John Muir Park...
Autumn and slowly the trees are changing and though it was overcast when i left the house it is still nice to see the colours changing. I look forward to every season and the changes to the countryside,
I said hello to Dad in Binning Woods, then rode to the river tyne...
Destination was John Muir Park...
Today i rode out across the mud flats once i had rode past where all the geese were sitting to not disturb them and dropped down onto Hedderwick Sands to the tyne river and followed it to it`s estuary...
The Barnacles provide float to easily cross the mud flats and i followed the river...
I came across an area of small stones that i think could be the remains of a causeway that once crossed the bay here from Tyninghame to Hedderwick. Here it is on the 1831 John Thomson Atlas that you can view on the excellent National Library of Scotland website
Daftly i never took a pic of it! as i was having trouble with my Go Pro camera not switching on or switching off on it`s own accord randomly. It turned out to be a faulty memory card having swapped it after last weekend. I did get enough footage for a short film and you will see the stone surface on the film.
Riding out to the estuary was as always here real soft going, but was suprised by the big bank of sand here now...
Look at the height of the sand, the bike is on top for scale, lost the sand off your beach?, it`s here!
It`s great riding out here at JMP as on a Sunday while the rest of the coast is busy near the car parks the woods, estuary and out at the point is always near deserted, great if you want some quiet `me time`,
Across the estuary at Tyninghame i counted over 30 people...
I sat a while and soaked up the big sky scenery and roaring surf...
I`m looking forward to the cool clear sky high pressure winter days on the coast and the big swells pushing in from the North Sea here that bring with them interesting finds along the coastline...
Heading for home and trying to find something to take home and an old bottle with its top...
Google `Middlemas Kelso` and in images you find all These
That will do for a memento to add to the junk room...
Still a few harvested fields to cut across on the way home...
No place like home...
Bottle top added to the junk room...
Here is a short film from out in the bay,
Song is `This is the Day` by THE THE
