Another Storm hits the East Coast - named `The Mini Beast from the East`...
Another end of winter storm hit the east coast on Friday, 40 mph easterly gales hit the coast pushing high tides and temperatures dropped as we experienced an Arctic blast - already it has been named the `Mini Beast from the east`...
I had M`s Cocker Spaniel `Jake` and took him out for a loop at Tyninhame early at low tide.
From Mosshousepoint where the river Tyne enters Belhavan bay i rode around the salt marsh battling into the gale...
Out the wind for a bit through the woods i felt the warmth come back on my face, it was baltic!...
Along the secret trail and out at Willowbrae point, all the way to there i could hear the roar of the sea, although the massive waves were far out it being low tide the sound was impressive...
Along Peffersands and Friday`s low tide has ripped out huge areas of the dunes!...
Check the dunes we ride down!...
Coastal Erosion?
Is it coastal erosion though as some people will say when they see this?, all this sand has built up over the last couple of years, these dunes continue to grow every year and stabilise behind the high tide line where the Marram grass grows through them, and they are growing in height north towards the Puffer burn in the distance of the pic above.
So is the high tide that occasionally comes right in at this time of year pushed with an onshore gale just reclaiming the area for the sea where the sand has overstepped the tide line?...
Filming done the sand was roaring across the open sand as i headed back to the car...
Jake enjoyed himself and he carried the same log all the way round the loop! lol...
Some film,
Song is `Break to the Future` by Phontaine...
Fatbike beachride; day 2 of the `Mini Beast from the East` storm, March 2018 from coastkid71 on Vimeo.
