More East Lothian Autumn Delight ...
Sundays bike ride was originally a kind of word of mouth via the Internet recce ride around the East Lothian village of Pencaitland by friend Gary...as things turned out he rode the intended route and by Sunday a posse of 13 (it was Halloween!) turned up at the village pub car park...
now this was a novelty for me...being shown some new trails in East lothian! and we would ride several through places i haven't got round to exploring...
i decided to ride out the 12 miles there and back as a fine calm day and could then enjoy a pint after the ride before heading home...
underway we rode through woods to cut under a bridge and follow the river tyne..an area i have always been going to go and have a look at...
and it was turning out to be a stunning Autumn day...
a short road section and we were in Winton estate, its woods in golden Autumn colour...
there is some really nice woods in here...
leaving the estate some railwayline walk led to a track up a hill in a field..
some clown on a fat tyre bike was goofing about riding along the bales...i mean really!!!!
after cake and tea/coffee at Garys we headed back into the woods...
where we kinda lost the trail but got some real offroad riding in until we met the trail...from there into Saltoun
in those woods was some stunning Autumn colour from the afternoon sunshine...is was like it was flouresent...
the colour in the afternoon sun was quite amazing as we rode down through the woods
a loop around woodhall woods then down to Winton estate on route back to the start and a pint at the pub...
what an amazing day with the weather,as everyone peeled off home Gary and i had another couple of pints then went along to friend Mike`s who couldnt make is as was working nightshift..he invited us for a pint of homebrew...in a shed...with a Honda C90...
a wheat ale he makes himself..it was real smooth...
highlight of the ride home for me was bombing through the town of Haddington as Halloween teenagers ried to water balloon bomb me while shouting `redrum redrum` at them in a screaming high pitch voice (the shining)hee hee... what a great day...
