Isolation Cycle pt 37; Peffersands...
Another day and were across the Tyne at Tyninghame a few rides and we have not been over here this year and were both gobsmacked at how much sand has moved at Peffersands...
Look here at the height increase around the Pill box and up the Dunes that has buried the marram grass here. The covered area was too soft this now but once th Marram grows through the paths through the area both sides of the Peffer burn will return...
At the estuary a dozen WW2 anti invasion glider pole bases have been uncovered, one still has a pole attached. There were 3 uncovered here last year and these all looked the same with no algae on them showing they had been buried for years...
The new dune system south of the estuary that has been growing in height every year since I have been cycling here is just getting taller and taller and this dumping of sand is the deepest covering after a winter I have see yet...
Beaches look the same to some people but it is really noticeable how much they are changing...
Along at the beach at Ravensheugh the burn has washed out a lot of rubble and the WW2 Dragons teeth anti tank obstacles are visible with the grass died back for winter...
Funny the beach was quiet here at 10am but the car park was mobbed, as usual with a lot of Edinburgh parking permit holder cars... again some folk seem to think their exempt from Covid restrictions and cannot stay in their own region...
