tachyon 2010 xc cameras
all is going well with the new camera kit i got,im loving being able to just pull a camera out the gas tank bag on the pugsley when riding, switch on,and stick it on my helmet using the M3 `snap velcro` and do a bit filming without stopping...
its strong enough to hold the camera for when just plodding along smoothish terrain...
i also have the permanent mount on a jump helmet for filming at say glentress, need to get down there again soon, been a while...
note the counter weights, car wheelrim balancing weights...
and for the motorbike i use a goggle strap with snap velcro on the inside of the mount and on the helmet for a secure mount...
and with short strips of snap velcro all over the bikes i can get lots of angles on the bike which makes the films more interesting i used as many angles as i could, took a while to edit but i like the result...
i still havent tried the 3D filming yet with both cameras together in sync as still cant get the 3D editing software to upload,i got instructions from tachyon who have provided a very personal and helpfull back up service and have emailed if everything is ok etc..which i appreciate,i will get it done, think its something im doing wrong...
i need to get another cheapy gorrila pod tripod and fit it to a tachyon mount so i can set up a camera in trees etc.. for rideby shots or pics, because you can do timelapse which is every 2 seconds you can set it up for a ride by picture and guarantee to get the pic-no more wobbly trackstands!,ok so the quality of pics isnt as good as my £60 cannon powershot compact which also has a decent zoom for the money but take a picture into the sun with the tachyon and you get a cool halo effect like when you film too which i love...
ive done a few short timelapse films to try it out, heres a timelapse view south at work of a front moving in....
and another of low cloud timelapse west...
also at work, using the options on vista moviemaker you slow down speeds to miminum and it compresses the pictures together,at a pic every 2 seconds you can imagine theres alot of pics so you usually have to also use effects and double speed, maybe a few times, guess it depends how fast you want the film to move,
so now i want to make some all day timelapse films of the sky and the tide which i can do over 12 hours now with the winter hours of daylight, also plans for a cable dolly..,using heavy fish gut and a fishing real to tension the line i want to try filming with one of the cameras looking back and overtaking me,also something else to tryout soon, watch this space...,
I'm guessing you have no children CoastKid as you have a lot more time than me to ride bikes and play with gadgets! (and the money to buy them)
ReplyDeleteI must have a go with the video function of my point & shoot one day.
hi antoine, yep im single this now and dont have children so do have plenty of time to cycle,i won the cameras so no money spent,i seem to spend alot less now riding ridgid bikes now locally than when i was driving to go riding at trail centres and race downhill,i live on beans on toast to afford my bikes!!!!
ReplyDeleteHey there. I have been doing time-lapse for 3 years now with Ricoh cameras, including a solar-powered 9 month building project from the top of a lighting tower!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the longest duration you have recorded so far using your Tachyon? I've bought the XC Micro and I'm building a AAA dc-dc adapter for it. Mine stopped (for no apparent reason) after only 90 minutes on its first test using just batteries. The batteries are not flat.
Just curious,
Cheers, Pete
hi pete i did 4 hour timelapse..thats been longest so far,i have 16g cards so imagine will go for ages as counter was still at 9999!
