The drought continues... overcast yesterday and again today made for a welcome relief in temperatures...
Despite the lack of rain there is still colour in the countryside...
The ferns in the woods seem unaffected by the lack of rain...
The smell of fresh cut timber is great, even better is the smell of wood burning on your own fire at home -:)
Nice and cool riding through the woods to the coast...
Down to `The Nam`... `Tyninghame`... -:)
Out around the point called `Sandy Hirst` or also locally known as `Duck Island`...
Despite the car park packed with cars of visitors to the coast here it is always quiet out here at the point...
No one really knows what this stone wall was originally built for, a fish catchment perhaps?, or just a boundary...
As Toyah Wilcox once sung `Its a Mystery...`
Also disappeared is a road that once crossed from here to Hedderwick in the distance...
Here it is on an old map...
No sign of this tidal road road which would have had a ford, probably stone based, but no sign of the crossing today, lost in the sands...
The soft sand bar was hard work even on the mighty Moonlander, this would be real hard going on the 4" tyre Pugsley...
I rode out across the mud flats following the line of rocks from the old wall...
Wildfowlers hidings...
After a bit of wheel spin on the slimy mud this almost neon colour salt marsh grass provided loads of grip...
I do not know what it is called and cannot find it on line, need to ask my dad, This stuff can also be found growing in the lagoons at Gullane Point...
Slippy again once off the grass and back on the mud...
A really old tyre...
Not so old, a 12" Mini tyre!...
A Jellyfish hanging around...
Along the shoreline, hoping to find something interesting exposed on the mud flats but nothing...
Dry above the high tide line...
Along to Moss Point...
This bike makes you grin like a dafty....
MOO!
Home after an easy couple of hours and then down to watch the final day of The Open with my dad at the nursing home...
Great stuff as always, thanks!
