Dawn Cycle around Gullane Point...

Winter sun at the weekend, finally!, i was actually on the coast before the sun broke over hill and onto the beach at Gullane but i enjoyed a cycle of solitude with no one around...

The wind was still strong but nothing like the previous evenings Gale, the sun touched the dune tops as i rode down to the coast...

Some stills from the Go Pro...

It was now 10am, short days of daylight...

Job done and home to sort firewood...

  1. Great story and lovely photos mate.
I'm keen to pop the e-fatty in the car and take a drive around the Scottish coast, but I am a little confused as to the legislation.
I know that it is clear that Scotland enjoys far more free access to the countryside and beaches than down here in England, but I'm not sure if that extends to dune systems like those in Foveran for instance, which look incredible.
Are you able to point me on the right path so to speak?!

  2. If your on establised paths through the dunes then there is not an issue, dune surfing down big open dunes on say a Nature Reserve could be classed as unresponsible, but technically no different to humans walking or running down them off the paths. Nesting season times for birds should be considered by all in sensitive areas, but being sensible and responsable is all that is really asked for visitors to the coast,
