Man Cave Activity...A blog about a bench...

I was given a nice Record No 5 vice from fellow Pugsley owner Tommy, Been wanting to make a movable work bench for sawing, grinding, polishing etc for a while, something i can pull out side before doing some dirty work. A phone call to Friend Eddie and Saturday morning would see 3 6 feet long 6x6" posts and a scaffold plank turned into a neat bench,

Eddie set about measuring the uprights and after some sawing we piled the stuff into his van and headed to his workshop where he set about sawing the joints that would make the bench strong and solid...

I promoted myself to dog entertainer and grabbed a brush to sweep up under the machines...

:)

Joints made...

And glued and screwed....

Scaffold plank for the top...

Into the van and back to coastkid HQ and back to my cave...

Storage shelf underneath...

All done it was time for lunch...

Then i painted it with garden wood stain to match the woodwork in my cave...

Some bolts from work that came out a dismantled and scrapped Gym machine bolted on the vice...

Nice vice!...

Ready for use...

With the clocks changing this weekend it is light to 7pm now. made the most of it tonight and split logs, tided garden and then made a tyre rack. We won`t zoom in to show my joinery work as well shoddy!, but painted up last night it works!....

If your a member and coming along it is where you have 2 days left to order a T shirt, which you pre pay, then Gil will bring them along, Gil has also done free stickers!, top bloke!
The T shirt logo has an East Coast theme to it seeing as your gonna be cycling the links that once was home to grazing stock...

We also have some bottles donated by Steve at NB Gin made here in our seaside town!.

It would make a nice toast out at the WW2 submarine wrecks on the Saturday to the crews of 10 of those tiny wee XT Class and X Class vessels that never returned from active service...

Keep your fingers crossed for decent weather here on the coast for the following weekend!

Mk 1 Purple Surly Pugsley Update...

Tuesday after work and the Purple Pug and Fat BOB trailer are packed in the car to go to Tyninghame beach to haul fire wood washed into the river tyne estuary during winter spates. May as well take it home for some free heat!, Mowgli came along for a run on the coast...

Back home with a boot load of logs to saw and it was time to forget about that as a package had arrived...

From UK No1 Surly dealer Charlie Bike Monger...

Inside was a free T shirt...

And these two cardboard boxes i ordered at the weekend...

Time for some crisps and a few ciders-as i swapped the old Pugsley`s tyres...

And all done- Gumwall Nates!

Time for some Surly fun and  those tyre boxes come in handy as helmets :)

Cheers!...

Happy that the old Pugsley has the tyres now which suit it`s retro theme...

Spare set of (Regular) Nates  now, unreal the little wear on these for having 1500+ miles now on them...

Back to today's task and sawing and splitting that firewood!...

The old Pug is finally sorted!
