Pink Pugsley; 29+ wheels for the Pink War Rig for Bike Packing duties...

G wants to use her Pink Surly Pugsley 2.0 for bikepacking duties having been impressed with the roll and speed and comfort of my 29+ wheels compared to the 27.5mm x 3.0” wheels on the Genesis  Prototype Fatbike she had been riding last summer, so having a spare pair of unused Surly Rabbit Hole 29 x 50 wheels I rebuilt them with matching hubs to her current 5' fatbike wheels - 135mm rear Hope Pro 4 QR, and a Surly 135 front, I had bought 4 new rear Hope hubs and 4 front 135 Surly hubs when I sold my house and cleared the mortgage and had the spare cash and now that's them all used for our wheel sets for our Pugsley 2.0 bikes...

The front wheels on G`s bike are symmetrical having used a Moonlander fork so while not interchangeable  with my offset front wheels share the same parts, I soon had the wheels laced and trued them out in the garage on her frame set with cable ties to get as good as perfect...

Next morning dawned frosty and clear - a perfect winter day with no breeze...

I soon had the Maxxis Chronicle 29 x 3" tyres mounted split tube `Ghetto Tubeless using sum bubble wrap to take up the gap which allowed easy inflation, these were then juiced with 300ml of Stans sealant...

Always fit new blade to trim excess tube and a good tip is use a magnet on the blade that raises it a couple of mm away from the rim giving a little exposed that can allow the tyre to be deflated if you have to replace a broken spoke/spoke nipple....

And vola new wheels!, schrader valves as usual, Surly spacers that come with the Pugsley 2.0 frame set to the hub width out to 142mm, the only disappointment was using duct tape for rim tape as looks a bit crap with the creases, but Rabbit hole rim tape no longer available...

So 2 sets of wheels giving 2 bikes in one...

Fat...

And 29+ `Fat-lite`...

I took my Surly Wednesday out after building new 29+ wheels also for that- more in the next post...

Time to get out in that winter sun and what a day to be on the East coast!...

G was loving the roll of the big wheels...

Ha ha! G needs this van!

How to not need photoshop for a sunset picture...

Wee film from this afternoon, song is `Dayvan Cowboy` by Boards Of Canada

More soon...
