Saturday +ride with Sanny...

All pics this page by Sanny...

I got a phone call late Friday from Sanny who was through in Edinburgh with Helen for the day and would be free for a bike ride so riding my Surly KramPug 29+ i rolled along on the Surly Wednesday with the 27.5+ wheels to ride a route to Archerfield Walled Garden for lunch with some detours along the way to make for a decent 25ish mile off road route.
The weather was roasting!, clear blue sky and temps hitting 20C, and i enjoyed the coolness riding through the woodland trails.
Sanny has not rode here in June and was amazed at the greeness of the countryside this now.
Mad to think that in under 8 weeks some of it will be golden brown as the Harvest starts!.
Any took loads of pics as usual and i shot some hemet cam footage with the Go Pro,
Here are some of the days pics with notes where needed....

Saturday`s Epic Cycle with Sanny!...

All pics on this post by Sanny...

`The no need for a Fatbike ride on these trails but we took them just the same anyway ride!...`

A massive post with 90 pics and six 3 minute films!...

Been a while since good friend Sanny has been through from Glasgow for a cycle here in the Shire...
Busy with riding away from home for magazine articles and testing stuff, he popped through for the day with his blinged Cannondale  Fatty test bike for as he called it a `catch up and short recovery ride` having been ill a couple of weeks with a lergy,
His `Short ` ride turned out to be a bit of a 7 hour epic of nearly 50 miles mostly off road as we rode inland for the day on a big loop of trails which circled the Hopetoun Monument, one of the landmarks of the county.
We rode the Tyne trail to Haddington, then trails to Gifford and after a cafe stop, on to Pencaitland and Macmerry before nearing the coast at Longniddry where a stop at my mums for tea and biccy`s before rides through the local Gosford and Luffness estates, then the former Drem Airfield, and then home from Drem.
The day was into a tough South Westerly gale that while mostly sheltered in woodland trails was a bit tough going in the open, until after Longniddry where we enjoyed some free wheeling wind assisted cruising!.  Fat bikes were not really needed today and in fact + wheels would have been a better choice, esp on the many muddy sections of trails in the woods, but what the heck it`s fun to ride what makes you smile, and Fatbikes always do that!...

`We serve no one here`,  been closed for years...

Linn Rocks at East Linton, filming with the mono pod...

Cherry Blossom, Snow drops and shoots of Daffodils and Wild Garlic as signs of Spring is in the air today along with a milder temperature...

There is a fun trail from Bolton Village to Gifford village which i have blogged about already, trails south of Haddington pass a memorial before a mile of tarmac to Bolton and the trail...

Once into the woods it is real scenic alongside the water with some fun detours ideal on the Fatbikes where some extra grip comes in handy...

Lol!...

We met a family out walking, Howie is a reader of Singletrack online and has read Sanny`s recent Fatbike articles and a keen rider, who was curious about Fatbikes...

A quick ride and the big grin says it all!, future convert!...

Moving on and onto Gifford village and a cafe stop...

Into Gifford village and a we stopped at Lanterne Rouge Cafe for some lovely food and good banter with the owner...

Another film riding from Bolton to Gifford,  Pt3
