coastriding...
if heaven is a nice bit of singletrack, paradise for me is a tailwind assisted beachride along some of east lothians coastline on a day like today...(saturday)
warm and clear skys...and a very northwest coast looking clear sea!
oh the surly tuggnut i fitted has cured the slipping wheel...the green serated spacer had actually cracked with about a 3rd missing proberly allowing the axle to slip...i had to use the silver one spare to fit the tuggnut...cool with the bottle opener in typical surly style!...
gullane beach wasnt too busy as only 11am...only one kiteboarder out in the surf...it was perfect for it...
look at all that firewood!...
i stuck the helmet cam on from gullane point on the reserve along to the east end of gullane beach at black rocks...see if anyone knows this band then?...
then just cruised down to north berwick...
look at that torquoise sea!
north berwick beaches were busy as expected with the warm weather...
so instead of white bodys lying about (turning red by tonight) heres a nice sign!...
gone now for the summer are the frozen days of winter when you never saw a living soul (or dead one!) on the coastline away from the carparks..and when a biting cold wind blows sand which burns your face...days like that feel like a long time ago after today...

ReplyDeleteWhere is the soundtrack from??
tommy: song is `this is the day ` by `the the` from there first album `soul mining`
ReplyDeletefront man and songwriter was matt johnstone...
proberly my favourite band when at high school...
no one else had heard of-or listened to them which was/is typical of things i like!...
Caution!
ReplyDeleteThat is not a 'serated spacer'. It's a 'non-turn washer'. You've got it installed backwards. The serrated edge should contact the dropout, and the 'bump' on the serrated edge should fit in the dropout slot. You should have one on both sides of the hub.

I remain skeptical that you can use the Surly Tuggnut and the non-turn washer at the same time.
Good luck.
I saw them play at Edinburgh Playhouse in the 80's. They stood in at short notice to support someone who I don't remember just now. The wife had an album too if I remember rightly.......
ReplyDeletefits well with the vid though.
nice one....Al.
I could never understand why 'Soul Mining' was not a huge hit.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely georgous, as always.
