if you live here in britain and want to know about why were here today-despite all the present political chaos, take a few minutes to watch this film dedicated to the men (really just boys) who fought and also for some payed the ultimate price so we could live our lives today...
kind of puts life in perspective...
my parents fathers payed that price so were here today...something i think about alot...
lots of people including myself lately (sorry hanneke!) moan about working conditions and/or the cost of living here in the UK...
but it could have turned out alot worse...
some thanks can go to the guys that flew these...
id like to thank alistair`s blog who has written an amazing diary of his own fathers experiances as a RAF lancaster bomber tailgunner in those dark times...and posted this film...
now hopefully after watching this everyone who thinks our countrys screwed up will realise that at the end of the day were all here because of the bravery of these guys amongst others and will realise that lifes not about money, greed and wealth but freedom to go for a walk where we want, wear what we want, and being individual in opinion...
and now at last these young men of the RAF bomber command are now being respected for there bravery...
years after RAF commander arthur harris (considerd by some a butcher...) was rememmbered they have finally erected a memorial to the guys who actually did the job...
next time you fly over the channel think about these guys that flew on a near daily basis in an aluminium plane riveted together navigating in all weather conditions, at risk of fighter and flack attack and mechanical failures over ememy land...
brave as...
today a modern lawnmower has more technology...
rant over...all the moanys shut up, go enjoy what you can do...
in freedom...

ReplyDeleteMy Grandad went "over the top" on the first day of the Somme and miraculously survived.
My Dad while not aircrew served in the RAF during the Malayan emergency.
I did my little bit too.
The memorial to Bomber Command's lost 52,000 men and the survivors is long overdue, and you're right, what have we got moan about really?
clive; yep we live in a country that will always put a roof over your head...feed you...fix your teeth and nurse your health...
