It`s a good sign when you want to ride a bicycle everyday, and i have this week, riding to work on the Karate Monkey i have took a detour home after work around the local trails that are very dry after still another dry but very cold week of baltic cold easterly winds off of the North Sea.
If it was the wettest summer in 2012, then the 2013 Spring has to been the coldest, more damp cold than crazy low temp cold which is a drier cold, everyone says their feeling the weather, many under it a bit...
Me i`m glad to be fit and healthy and can go ride a bike every day,
And again Wednesday and today i did some chilled out cycling and had a bit look around some of my local patch...
Loving the Karate Monkey and it is an ideal East Lothian trail bike, it is real comfy, simple set up - so be cheap to run, and despite mud tyres it is no slouch on the road for an MTB, happy days!
Wednesday Loop...
Down to North Berwick to visit Dad, then return on the JMW with a detour to Kingston...
These are the remains of WW2 Home Guard slit trenches, the same as what is around Whitekirk Hill, but not as deep...
Ex Army Generators...
Maybe been before this appeared, not a bunker! but a new water tank...
All trails around here lead home, and its dinner time...
Thursday Detour home from work...
Binning Wood...
Lawhead...
Move over ROVER...
Smeaton...
BMX den...
Linn Rocks...
onwards...
Pencraig Hill...
WW2 Home Guard Spigot Mortar Mount...
When in use it would have pointed east at the top of the climb up Pencraig hill to be fired at an approaching vehicle as it topped the pass at its slowest speed...
In use it would have looked like this...
Along the old ridgeroad...
Hard to believe this was once part of the Great North Road...
Back onto the road, do you see it lying in the ditch?...
"G Lieth & Co Musselburgh"...
Gilmerton...
East Fortune...
Really enjoying having this type of bike again. I love my Fatbikes but i like a bike like this for local trails and general riding around on...
It is all rolling sweet, just waiting for Superstar pedals, on their way now they are back in stock...
Hungry, so time to head home for dinner...
That first bottle looks like a wee Murchies Milk bottle for schools. (Before Thatcher took them away). Good post Bruce.

ReplyDeleteBeen a busy week on the bikes Stuart!, making the most of the dry trails!
ReplyDeleteThe Monkey is lookin' good! So are the pics, as always. One of the local shops here has a Karate Monkey set up with Rabbit Hole rims and 2.4 Ardent tires... makes me consider getting a KM myself.
ReplyDeleteI will hopefully built a wheel set with RH rims too once funds are available,
ReplyDeleteI cannot say enough about the fun this bike is to ride!
