7am and i was down to Peffersands dunes and beach and Tyninghame woods just after sunrise with Mowgli for a cycle on a lovely morning here on the east coast.
All was quiet, visitors asleep in the holiday huts and some campers tents i passed on the way to the dunes...
Deserted beach!...
Dropping in...
Sand is real soft at Peffersands this now, glad to be on the big Moonlander...
Amazing light...
Mobile devices usually do not read this link but if your on a PC then here is two short films i uploaded onto Flickr...
Up over Ravensheugh...
Then dropped down through Links woods...
And along the secret trail...
Home for breakfast, then head out mid morning for North Berwick. I planned 3 rides today, dawn, midday, and a sunset ride, but the rain came on in the evening and the sky dark and overcast, so i wet my insides instead with a couple of ciders :)
Midday Low tide ride;
5 of us rolled out of North Berwick at 11am for Gullane-Gary and Lorraine, Brian, Craig and myself, and a 6th rider-Mike, joined us at Gullane,
All the pics below are by Brian...
Ice Cream!
With the real strong westerly gale we tried to avoid the headwind by riding the John Muir Way through to Yellowcraigs, and then between the garry dunes below Archiefield and Muirfield to get to the baked bean trail up to Gullane Village. Gingerbread Ice cream at `Cool`s Ices`,
To the subs!...
Then 3 of us split for the Sub wrecks in Aberlady Bay-myself, Brian, and Craig, to do an extra loop seeing as Brian had travelled through from Stirling way, while Gary,Lorraine, and Mike cruised back to North Berwick with the gale force tailwind...
All pics by Brian today as i forgot to repack my camera after the dawn cycle to Tyninghame after uploading the pics-doh! what a doofis!,
but i did have the Go Pro so shot some footage out across the Reserve and back to NB.
A couple from Yorkshire took our pic at the Nature Reserve car park and emailed it to Brian, thanks for this!...
We winched out across the blowing sands to the sub wrecks, had a breather, then set cruise control for the tail wind assisted blast back to NB,
And enjoyed some of the sandy single track trails too above the high tide line...
We never caught up with Gary and Lorraine and Mike until back in North Berwick...
Despite the wind it was an ace day on the coast, shared with good friends, fun and laughs, and ice cream!
Some Go Pro film, while pictures usually capture the flat sections on the beaches, unless stopped and shots taken, film always shows the flowy stuff like the ace single track above the coves between the headlands
Songs are; `Ektrachrome video (1963)` and `Oscar See Through Red Eye` by Boards of Canada
