Midweek Cycle-Sweet Home East Lothian...
Took a morning spin around the local trails and estate and over Whitekirk Hill on dry frozen ground and stretched the legs on the Surly Krampus 29+, with its long top tube front triangle, slack geometry and short chain stays it`s a beast of a bike and fast through the woods of John Muir Way!
Also checked out some old gravestones at Whitekrik church on the way home...
Fear the Krampus!, what a bike when you have not been on it for a while!, stomp on the pedals and it just goes!...
Still had to stop to soak up the views in the shire...
Around the local estate when everything muddy was frozen and there is some standing water...
:)
Spring is err springing!...
Dog cemetery...
Singletrack wood descent widened for that Extreme Mud Warrior event has lost all its tech...
But due to the flooding i had to back track and cut through the field to the main road to Gleghornie...
Back out in the sun!...
Out across Becky`s Strip byway to Whitekirk...
Old Mill stone near the bridge over the Pilmuir burn, where there is believed to have once been an Inn or Tavern...
Looking west...
Over Whitekirk hill
And stopped by Whitekirk Church to find and photo a gravestone to add to an old blogpost...
War memorial...
This is the grave stone i was looking for, of Andrew laidlay who died in the fire of Seacliff Mansion in 1907...
Up the hill from the village on the old track and soaked up the views from the cairn seat for a while...
Another big sky day in the shire...
More soon..
