Singular Puffin Fatbike trial...

Sam owner and creator of Singular Cycles emailed to see if i would like a trail of his 2nd generation Puffin Fatbike along with a pair of 29+ wheels as he knows i like the `two bikes in one` concept and the new Puffin has been designed with this option available.
I soon had the bike and wheels out the two boxes and put together...

Some orange matching pedals added and some fine tuning of  the cockpit and its ready to go!...

 First impressions;
Some real neat attention to detail, like the removable cable mounts if you want a bare single speed build, Forward facing seat post cut out to reduce dirt ingress,

The eccentric BB allows chains on single speeds to be tensioned with a simple vertical dropout, but esp useful for running 29+ wheels, as the BB height does not increase a  full inch like with a regular BB Fatbike with 29+ wheels...

Good clearance and still a 445mm chain stay to keep with the modern  long top tube/short chain stay/short stem for trails...

Bluto Fork compatible, and no grout collecting areas on braces...

The demo bike has a nice spec,  1x10 XT drive chain, Surly rims on Hope hubs, Surly cranks and XT Hydraulic brakes, Gum wall Surly Nate tyres too!...

The bike has a lot in common with my own Surly Wednesday but don`t expect me to do a shoot out  comparison between the two, just like i have not between my own bikes.
I will point out what i think are the real neat features based on my own experience, i doubt there is any bad points with Sam`s previous bike building history and this a 2nd generation of his Puffin...

Looking forward to having fun over the next few weeks!...

More soon...
