Friday 13th, Full moon, Sunrise 08.34...
Home as the temperature dropped below 0C...
Friday 13th and with the full moon and strong winds 17 coastal flood warnings issued on the east coast of England. I was keen to get along the coast today and see what effects Fridays high tides had moved or revealed on our own east coast here...
I planned to ride my old favourite loop out to Aberlady Bay, then east to North Berwick and return home on trails of the John Muir Way, this October will be 10 years i have owned and rode the coast and often this loop on my original Surly Pugsley. As it turned out i met Brian midday in North Berwick and rode back to Gullane with him for chat and banter...
Main road to Drem then down to the old Drem Airfield and around the old Perimeter track to Aberlady Bay as the first signs of dawn lit up the sky behind to the east as i reached the Bridge...
Out to the point on the reserve and waiting for the sun to come up i walked the high tide line and picked up 17 tennis balls!, and... a parrot!, the things you find beach combing!...
Out to the subs...
Did some filming on the way out to here,

Rolling on and there was not any damage to the coast from the high tides as i rode east to Gullane and beyond, just this winters blown sand washed away to leave steps off the dunes...
Gullane sands and lovely light on the wet sand...
Willis Jeep!, but wheels missing and not the real deal!...
Broadsands at Yellowcraig...
Lunch stop at friend Craig`s cafe in NB and Brian arrived and after some good banter i chummed Brian back to Gullane to then climb up to the Millennium cairn...
Saying farewell to Brian i headed home via Drem Airfield as the sun set and the temperature dropped below freezing...
Home and fire up the stove!, and pour a post ride Westons Cider!, what an ace day on the coast!...
More soon...
