EL MTB #13 JMW - Hedderwick Bay Pt 2 of 2

Continuing along The John Muir Way the trail winds around a ruin of a WW2 Searchlight and past the remains of more crumbling concrete of a larger Observation Post at the Hedderwick Burn, you will need to go look for that if interested - just before the wooden bridge over the burn,

Coastal erosion is visible here as the sandy cliffs have been washed out, detours take you away from the edges like here...

EL MTB. #12 JMW - Hedderwick Bay Pt 1of 2

The John Muir Way follows Hedderwick Bay as it nears John Muir Park and its end in Dunbar Town,
nice single track follows a line of WW2 Coastal Crust Anti Tank defences built in 1940,
East Lothian has thousands of these blocks and these ones are well preserved and not been moved by tide or man, except one, sandy top soil blowing from the field when cultivated has grown grasses and flowers on most of the tops creating wee habitats...

How did this Tank block get across to here from the row I wonder?

EL MTB #11 Ware Road (JMW)

Another section of the John Muir Way (JMW) as varied as the rest of the Long Distance Trail as it passes through East Lothian to it's end in Dunbar, birthplace of the famous Conservationist...

Marked on the OS map and signed `Ware Road` this is one of three Ware Roads in East Lothian,
Ware Road is a Seaweed Road, when horse and carts once transported washed up seaweed gathered on the coast inland to use as fertiliser on farmland crops...

Again this corner has a unique landscape - drained for Agriculture in the 1700`s you could be forgiven for thinking your in the Norfolk Broads as you pass drained flat fields with ditches...
