Back to grass roots...The Pugsley...

Havent posted much on the Blog lately about the Pugsley...
the original reason i started all this in the first place...but were back!
and ready for a winter of beachriding..roll on cooler days on near deserted beaches under clear high pressure weather and amazing sunsets to then ride home as tempertures plummet with Darkness and home to a hot bath then a beer in front of a roaring fire...
think i prefer colder weather to cycle in...
so with no cycling at the weekend Sundays planned ride was postponed to Monday so some pugsley tweaking was done in the man-cave Sunday affy...
back on with the Epic Design frame bags and the cheapy Racks for mudgaurds and also an added crud catcher on the seat tube now theres no front mech...front rack bag is a moose racing motorcycle enduro fender bag i reshaped the mounts on to fit the rack, carrys packlight waterproofs...

also a re tweaked bottle cage mount on the fork for if the frame bag is full on the other side than the thermos flask/hip flask mounts...no dehydration this winter!
note the rear light, secured with a rubber tree strap..no end of use`s for these...

Also got an old Karrimor waterproof pannier i can fit for carrying a stove to brew up when along the coast or carry home shells etc found beachcombing...
Need to also get a Surly Larry tyre ordered for the front and also work out how to carry another gadget recently purchased...a metal detector!

  2. Trying to figure out a reason to buy racks but I'm taking way too short rides to justify them, but perhaps if I get them I will go for longer rides? ;)

Must be a lot to be found at the beach with a metal detector, are one allowed to use one freely in UK?

Here in Sweden I think you need to have a permit to use one without breaking the law...

  3. AFAIK you dont need a permit to use them in the UK, although there is a law of Treasure Trove to be adhered to if you find anything potentially valuable.

I love that bike. I really want one. I reckon you could mount the detector to the front fork so it works as you ride along the sand. That'd be cool.

  5. My dad used to have a few shells from when he was in the RAF. He chopped the tops off them and made brass flower vases! In the shed at the top of our garden we used to have a pair of wing struts off a Lysander lol. Loads of old stuff, which is sadly gone now.
