Storm Cycle; Big Waves at Tyninghame -:)

No snow here near the coast in East Lothian while a lot of the UK has had a wild week of it, been a long winter. We had a bitter cold damp week, really bitter cold, it gets right into your bones... and makes doing anything an effort, but weekends are weekends and gotta make the most of it...

If you don`t have a pair of Nates on your fatbike you are not going to get that far on inland trails after all the rain we have had recently, i rode to Tyninghame and detoured from the swamp that would be Binning Wood after just on the John Muir Way trail it was like riding with flat tyres, half frozen mud!.
So i rode south to East Linton Village on the JMW and the climb up Janesfield  was a workout in the slop into a gale force headwind, not surprising the ground was frozen hard up top,

It was baltic cold, 0C to -1C at the house and here in the really strong wind it felt a lot colder, hands were toasty in the BARR MITTS, so glad i bought them, just need a pair of summer gloves on under neath...

A lot of debris piled up from the spate last week,  spy the BMX ramp across on the other side -:)

See the log with yellow ends?, Golf Course Tee Marker!, must have been washed down from Haddington Golf Course, it was flooded by the Tyne last week...

Why signed for only walkers to Dunbar?....

Down to Tyninghame woods...

The Sea was wild!, the gale force wind was whipping it into a tumbling white surf that was crashing onto the rocks and blowing white foam up into the air...

I did some film with the compact...hard to stand up never mind try and film and keep it steady!...

Then it was a tailwind push along the sand at Peffersands past amazing shapes cut into the dunes by the strong winds of the week, loads of sand has been moved along the dunes and new dunes are forming north of the present dunes, nature has an amazing power when you witness it like this on the coast...

I love riding the pugsley in conditions like this, a great wee ride...

  1. Nice selection of pictures Bruce, especially like ones of the rough seas. I couldn't face the cold temperatures this weekend and ended up spending most of it decorating :( Need to get out at Tyninghame soon too.
