Mid week cycle - 5pm Magic...

Tuesday evenings in Spring time March and April, and then as Summer turns to Autumn in September and October, are a favourite time of mine for early evening beach riding as the coastline is often quiet with people,  most day visitors have headed home or to camp sites, B&Bs  etc as temperatures become cooler in early evenings.
But these months often offer some lovely short evenings cycling in good weather and  the often empty coastlines are ideal for filming, esp around 5pm as day visitors have gone and people are not yet home from work to walk dogs etc...

Yellowcraig 5pm...

The name Ware Road is common in areas where harvesting of Sea-Ware (Seaweed ) was once a common practise. East Lothian was one of the most productive Seaweed harvesting coasts in South East Scotland.
There is a Ware road at Dirleton to Yellow craig, one in  North Berwick, and one near Tyninghame...

The kelp is still washed ashore after strong tides, and currents...

Here is a picture of farmworkers from the nearby nearby Ferrygate farm collecting the Kelp on this same part of beach.
Not sure of the date but must be as late as the 1950`s judging by the tractor being used...

On Saturday`s cycle while stopped to cool down in the unexpected heat i spied some lines through the Sow rocks between Yellowcraig and Marine Villa...

Time to roll out the big Surly Moonlander this evening again for some rock crawling...

Temperatures are cool enough now to again ware my Showers Pass Rogue Hoodie soft shell top that i love, it is just so comfy. You can get them here in the UK now too;  UK Showers Pass UK Dealers

As the sun sets there was that magic hour of light and long shadows...

Only about a mile cycled in around an hour or so, plenty time to chill and soak up the coast at this amazing time of day...

Awesome bike on the rocks...

Again as at John Muir Park here at Yellowcraig a surfer shower, new this summer it is ideal to wash down the bike... -:)

Another 5pm movie when the coast is near deserted and that magic  light before sunset starts...
