A Saturday Low Tide to High Tide Cycle...

Friend Brian from near Stirling texted Friday evening saying he was coming down for a day on the beach and wondered if i would show him some of the coast and trails east of North Berwick.
We ended up riding from 10am to 3 pm, high tide to low tide, a fun easy 19 miles off road via the ruins and harbour at Seacliff, the coast at Peffersands, then after the secret trail and other singletrack along  for a cafe break for soup at Tyninghame Cafe, again as on the last ride past here. A visit to Smeaton Mill and then we returned from East Linton to North Berwick on the John Muir Way to North Berwick before sunset- for some fish and chips...
It was an interesting winters day-a weird bright sunrise through black clouds-then a flat light day, terrible for taking pics on the coast-then when we rode back to the coast along the John Muir Way the skies cleared to the west and we got an unexpected amazing sunset!,
And we also witnessed a very high tide around North Berwick harbour-the highest i have ever seen with no wind blowing, it was real high and it was calm!, it it had been the 20mph+ gales of the last few weeks it would have been serious, a lot of people gathered to watch the tide lap over the top of the Victorian stone walls in places, it was quite surreal with the sunset and a nice end to a perfect winter days cycling on the coast...

Brian enjoyed his day here on the coast and put a lot of places to pics he has seen on the blog here.
I think he really enjoyed himself!...

  1. Your right Bruce I did have a great day riding your wonderful coastline. The terrain offers something for every type of rider, not just for a fat fatbiker like myself.
The weather truly was an added bonus...
