FORTH FAT 14; The Aftermath...

Friday Affy;
Things started rolling Friday afternoon when Tyler and Trevor from Surly arrived in a hire van from Edinburgh Airport... I rode down to meet them, and see a nice new fatbike to soon appear from Surly :) ...

Enter the Surly Ice Cream Truck!...

Tyler handed me his 18" medium Surly Ice Cream Truck for a little spin along the beach and i loved it!...
1st UK ride on one of these and in just a short ride it felt right!

Think Surly Krampus on mega steroids... that is what this new 5" fatbike is...

Rear chainstay dropous are neat; Direct mount of the rear SLX mech  gives quick/positive gear changes..

Nice tight seat stays that do not catch your heels...

Proper chain clearance and chain line...

This is a proper designed fatbike...

Even the sun tried to pop out  as we rode to the campsite, no more pics from myself on Friday as i would enjoy some cider and nice food with the company....

Saturday;
Saturday dawned clearer skies, even if my head was a bit cloudy after enjoying sharing the locally made NB Gin donated by Steve the maker and fatbike fan...

It was still quite cool but the wind had shifted round to the south as fore casted. Dave from Skye was pitched in a wigwam with wood burner stove that had a water boiler, how cool is this set up!...

Pumpkin Pugsley with the FatBOB trailer hitched up ready to roll for 10am...

Down to the Celtic Cross and a few folk had arrived. while the campsite crew arrived and introductions were made to other new faces etc i went round and noised up the Surly boys...

Friend Pat who i met last year at the inaugural Forth Fat from UK Surly distributor ISON Distribution had arrived on his special Ops Pugsley...

By the time we rode around there was 39 riders...

We were off and headed to Gullane on the John Muir Way...

Time to ride east 7 miles back to NB...

Friend Mark made some film of the ride from North Berwick to here...

Nice pic by friend Tommy...

Time for  food

Saturday evening;
Fish and chips and then a couple of pints...

What happened in the pub stayed in the pub...
I had nothing to do with things that went on outside the pub...

Sunday;
Sunday dawned not to bad and the campsite convoyed to Whitekirk where we met other folk that turned up for the half day ride around the coast here....

 See, the world is indeed not flat...

And from Tyninghame it was as usual a road dash at the front back for the Whitekirk Sunday Carvery

Thanks;
Big thanks to everyone who came and cycled on both days or one or the other...
Bit disappointed at the number of local  fatbike owners to turn up considering how many fatbikes are around here, you missed a superb weekend.
I well appreciated the people who travelled far to come and see our little bit of Scottish coastline that offers so much. And it is all of you who came who made the weekend-i did the easy bit organising it!, you lot made the effort to travel and book accommodation. Hope i said hello to you all and you were made to feel welcome and we will see you again at future FORTH FAT Gatherings....

Big thanks to Tantallon Caravan & Camping Park who welcomed us again and provided decent facilities, Cannot blame them for the soggy ground to camp on after the previous weeks horrendous weather!.

Also big thanks to Carl at UK Squirt Dry lube distributor Into Dust who posted up some dry lube and some Bio Bike Cleaner to hand out, much appreciated...

Thanks again Gil for doing T shirts and stickers...

North Berwick Gin maker Steve at NB Gin, a lovely drink indeed!...

Friend Tommy who brought Lars along with their fatbikes from Holland, sorry about the mountains guys... :)

Pat from UK Surly Distributor `ISON  who returned this year with family to enjoy our coast and support our passion of fatbikes,

And Tyler who again returned this time along with Trevor from Surly Bikes who are here in the UK for a week. Tyler said it is all my fault they were here on our coast, i replied it was all their fault for producing such a fun bicycle that has re invented my local cycling and inspired many other cyclists and manufacturers to do like wise. No other manufacturer of fatbikes has shown such interest in UK coastal cycling and it is nice to put a smile on these guys faces as well as everyone else who came along or was involved in the weekend...

See you next time...
