A Green June...

This month has flown in, what with being on holiday 2 weeks.  The wet weather of the second weekend, followed by warm weather and a lot of sunshine has seen crazy grass growth!. Fields are lush green and also hedgerows and the counties paths and trails are in places overgrown...

The Summer solstice was last weekend. We were  cycling at Lauder during the day and i never did a solstice cycle this year, but did sit up late out in the garden with the chiminea roaring!...

Work has been crazy with the grass growth!, struggling to keep on top of it the last two weeks but it is starting to slow down now as the ground is starting to dry out...were starting to turn the corner...

Look at the height of the grass on Becky's Strip Byway, this is a signed cycle route!, i see on average one or two cyclists daily while at work, pushing bikes up here huffing and puffing!. Obviously the Council have not the resources to maintain this when they cannot maintain the existing John Muir Way!,

Machines at work are being pushed to the limit, this was two weeks ago...

No work satisfaction working like this when leaving a such a mess...

Belts about to go due to overheating...

New blades just in time!. Think we got our money worth out the old ones!... A lot less stress on this machine now, and fuel saved, and less cuttings lying after mowing...

Down time due to a mechanical is a daily work theme...

These conditions push machinery to the limits and eventually something has to break. Not me though- i don't get paid enough!,  4pm and i`m off home!, done all i can do with what i have to hand...

Loving the Surly Cross-Check fixie for the commute. Will get full mudguards for winter...

The 53-20 tooth fixied ratio is ideal for the ride to work, spins out down the Stonelaws road but climbs it into an easterly easy enough in the morning....

Then once home it is out on the other bikes most evenings...

I don`t need to be out for long, a couple of hours locally gets my fix, then home to enjoy the rest of the evening or go see Francis.  Life is good...

Wee film which i mistakenly uploaded in 4:3 ratio so not in HD!. Blooming youtube would not allow mobile devices to view the film so i had to change the audio track,  so here it is on Vimeo with the chosen track- `Sabotage` by Beastie Boys...
