Saturday Cycle; Local frozen dry trails!

After weeks of wet weather and muddy saturated local trails away from the coast it was nice to get out this morning and ride some frozen dry trails.  First off i fitted an oval chain ring to the Pugsley i bought for £22 to try out from UK company Works Components

It works ok with the 22t inner chain ring and shifts fine with no adjustment needed to the front mech-the previous front chain ring was also 32 tooth...

I also had some low temperature Squirt Dry lube i could now tryout that the temperature has dropped...

I swapped out the 4" fat wheels for the 29+ `KramPug` wheels and headed out early for a couple of hours around Balgone estate.  Out in the countryside, and the smell of the countryside.. lol!...

Balgone estate and unreal flooding at the Lake...

Should be up the hills again playing in the snow but i wanted a car free day to go cycle...

Back home around midday as things started to thaw to get the bike washed then split some logs for firewood. The oval chain ring seems to work ok, kind of hard to explain but it`s like you can hang onto each gear for longer without needing to change gear up or down as often....

And the Postie dropped this through my letterbox,  if you want one here in the UK you can order one from Travers Bikes...

And relax...

Made a wee film out on the ride,
Song is `One day at a time` by Phontaine...

  1. Its interesting you got the oval ring to shift with a mech as its also has those narrow-wide teeth. I always had a belief that it would sort of work, just jumping a tooth until it lined up, maybe needing to ease off or only shift under no load. Good to see someone trying it though.

  2. Hi Richard, Yes the shifting is maybe not as smooth as before but yep it`s working!
