Here we go again....

Sunday i was back up Gullane Hill with 2 friends, Andrew and Trav who answered the call to arms for some biking while everywhere is bar the beach 99% unrideable due to the depth of the snow....we had a `braw` couple of hours riding...

Again a drop in temperature would again swing things and the soft snow of Saturday firmed up though the Hard pack tracks on the Golf courses would be a `bit slick` in places...didn't take many pictures but some filming, clear skys gave fantastic views from the top of the hill...

wish i had taken some pics of the snow at the Nature reserve bridge as it looked amazing in the low afternoon sun, never seen so much snow on the coast for so long ever...here`s the film...

So up for work Monday and forcast was for snow shower`s here but i though `yeah it will be sleet and slushy roads` so rode the hybrid to work, then the light snow shower er... kept falling and it went wild!, 3 hours later sat on a compact tractor digging snow then gritting and i was getting wet so time to change and split...
riding home on the snow covered roads with compressed tracks from occasional cars was like riding a bike with a flat front tyre...it was awful...

Around 8 inches had fallen by midday..here a raving report on the way home...

Indeed it will be the Pugsley tomorrow for the commute!
anyway we did some shovelling until dark out in the street, weve given up finding the tarmac and instead levelled the snow and tonight it should freeze and be ok for those who have to drive tomorrow...

After we had a nip of my neighbours Damson Vodka which went down a treat...
After that i decided to fire up the Chiminea in the back garden and sat nice and warm having a large Whisky...

as the temperature dropped...

The chiminea kicks out some heat...

So its a proper winter and everyone is freaking out about it, im just gonna accept it and deal with it and make the most of it...sitting there with the fire roaring away lighting up the snow, with the pugsley still outside and looking up into a clear night sky with no moon and a sea of stars this weather is all coming together for me and i feel far from apologising for enjoying it as i know alot of folk are not...
In fact im loving it and would love `proper` winters every year to dull grey overcast weather like normally at this time of year... mother nature is indeed in control if we like it or not...wonder how long its going to last?...

  1. You're getting in more snow riding than I am...and we have proper winters here every year. People here complain about winter all season long. I get so tired of it. A couple of times I asked the complainer why they don't move somewhere warmer if you hate winter so much. Then they have a dozen reasons they can't. If I hated it that much, I'd move.
