`Spirit of Kent` Spitfire

One of the best Airshow display films on youtube of  a Supermarine Spitfire.
The Mk IX  `Spirit of Kent`   Supermarine Spitfire which is based at Biggin Hill.
Pilot Dan Griffiths is giving it full bore in this 70 year old icon of WW2. Flying it as it had been designed to do.
The Mk IX is often considered one of the best Spitfires by some of the pilots who flew the many variations and survived those dark days...
And the film shows the spits famous tight turning ability, which made it such a feared weapon to engage.
The supercharger whine and roar of the V12 Rolls Royce Merlin engine on full song is just pure music...

Watch it loop from near ground level, awesome indeed...

  1. Very nice clip Bruce. Great sky as a backdrop for most of the show too.

Pint whenever you can make it.......

  2. That is a stunning bit of spitfire flying, nice find
