Saturday Cycle with friends - real wet one...

Saturday - the weekend, and time to enjoy hobbies, and what better way than to spend it with friends.
A few could not make it for a morning cycle but five of us braved the cold morning that had dawned clear with a frost but would soon cloud over as forecast and by 11am heavy cold rain began to come on quite heavy, and it did feel real cold.
The East coast can be a bitter cold place because of the moisture levels. which with an onshore wind can be bitter cold and cut to the bone, as the pics below of us wrapped up show!.
I was reminded today winter riding season has begun and i was wet and cold by the time we rode back to coastkid HQ. I saw the forecast and it was correct as the rain came in which must have been not far from turning to sleet!,
My North Face Paclite,  Endura water proof trousers and gloves were left in the house!, and the only thing i was wearing that was waterproof - my old KEEN boots were full of water at the end of the day.
Lesson learned and i ordered a neat piece of kit tonight to carry this stuff with me now.

Still had a great time with Gary, Sanny, Colin and Mark,  top blokes, good riders and a good laugh, despite the 3 - 6 Celsius damp conditions we were all smiling and had fun on our fatbikes.
I only took a few pics before the rain came on at Tyninghame beach, not that easy when leading a ride , So all these pics bar a few are by Sanny, great pics too!
Roll the pics...

Off to the coast...

Onto the coast...

Some pics by me...

And back to Sanny`s excellent pics...

Then the rain came on and the temp dropped big time...

Time to ride through the woods out the cold wind and along the secret trail...

I was cold and wet through,  the others wet in places, while  the MTB Munro baggers were warm and snug!, We headed home to my man cave where a warm stove and coffee and cake was waiting as the sun tried to break through and made an amazing light...

Wonder where your food delivery got to?...

Remember the original Startrek series?, Scotty would say to Captain Kirk; "It`s grim Jim, but not as we know it"  ... -)

Soon be home and washed, changed, and warm in front of the stove with coffee and cake...

Retro reminder...

From days gone by...

That one was rather expensive!...

A great day with some good friends...

Life is Good... -)

  1. Great wee ride out. I wonder what Hugo and Hector made of the Fat Bkes? You can always tell Edinburgh folk as they sound like they are posh English! Ha! Ha! I'm now psyched for a low tide ride from Dunbar heading north.......and I have garage envy!
