Tomorrow`s Harvest; 2014...

Is nearly ready here in East Lothian....

Into July;
Last two weeks have been warm and dry and some fields of Winter Barley are ready for harvesting soon...
The fore casted heavy rain never came last week here or on Saturday despite huge storm clouds building up and rolled past with rumbles of thunder on Friday and real muggy heat...

Sunday`s weather forecast was again for thunder storms and heavy rain.
Saturday evening the sky cleared out to sea so i set the alarm for 4am and went for a dawn cycle around the dry field boundaries (grass end rigs) and trails, and was greeted with an amazing sunrise at 4.30am across the fields of golden ripe Barley...

It will soon be my favourite time in East Lothian, and again this year i will enjoy cycling through miles of stubble fields and enjoying the harvest scenery of East Lothian. I discovered this as soon as i got a fatbike and last year really enjoyed the ideal combination of `float` and speed of the 29+ 3" tyre/50mm rim concept for this.
As you can see in the above picture i have fitted my semi drop Salsa Woodchipper bars to the KramPug just to see what it is like to ride-something i have been wanting to do to a Pugsley for a while.
This set up may prove to be perfect for stubble field cycling...

More on the Surly KramPug trying out the drop bar concept in the next blog,

I shot some film riding some local field end rigs and trails on Sunday morning, 20 miles and 3 hours later i was home and glad to have got up early as the heavens opened at 10am and we had a massive downpour of biblical proportions!...
