Into August and harvest scenery across East Lothian now, typical weather of this time of year with warm sunny days with big blue skies and the odd day of big storm clouds forming and heavy rain showers, with the odd day of prolonged overcast low cloud and steady rain it keeps things interesting!
Most of the Winter Barley is now harvested. The harvested stubble fields have been quickly disc harrowed on wet days..
The Oilseed Rape is mostly harvested now, Friend Gary has been out filming again with his rotor copter, the film cannot be embedded but here is a link that will open up on his latest film, superb work as always... Youtube link;
Be a week or so until the Spring Barley is harvested, then the main show event towards the end of the month and the Wheat... time then to do some stubble field A-B cross country rides with multiple fields in stubble...
Mowgli is here for 3 weeks holidays!. Francis has rented here house for 3 weeks and away on a road trip to Africa!. Most days i am still cycling to work and can ride there 90% of the way off road so taking Mowgli...
A short 1/4 mile on the main road- only the odd car at 6.30am, then 2 road crossings-the rest on tracks and field boundary's, been some superb sunrises this week...
Days at work soaking up the harvest views...and big skies and rain cloud formations...
Get back to work! lol :)
Loving the big space and freedom to run...
Despite the odd days rain the ground is still dry, slightly fried the greens last week, Irrigation is strugling to supply enough water for the nightly cycle and daytime watering by hand or here with the irrigation pop up sprinklers. There looking better the last few days so should still have a job :)
The magic time of day-home time!, and like a kid out of school the race home on the bike!, or this afternoon a detour for Mowgli....
Then were back out cycling in the evening...
After a day on the run Mowgli sleeps sound all night.
The lion sleeps tonight... lol...
More soon...
