Midweek cycle - those growing dunes...
So in the last 5 years we have witnessed the coldest winter, wettest summer, driest and warmest summer!, and now the sunniest winter here in East Lothian,
And it has since New Year been one of the windiest too!, The last 2 weeks have seen crazy gale force winds, and while there has been little rain here on the East Lothian coast i have seen plenty blowing across the Lammermuir Hills to our south and across in Fife to the North.
While everywhere else seems to have had some snow we have hardly had a drop that has lain long enough to not call sleet!,
But we have had a lot of other white stuff arrive, there has been some amount of sand moved!,
Whole areas of rocky shoreline have disappeared under sand, and a lot of dune systems have seen a real coating.
It is really noticeable out at Gullane Point on Aberlady Nature Reserve, i headed there today after work having stuck the Pugsley on the car to get down in time to get and hour and half's riding before sunset...
Look at all the fresh blown sand where they used to be Marram grass growing!...
Around the point and nothing much of interest washed up on the tide line so i went for a ride along the sandy paths through the dunes...
Here all the paths have been covered so unable to ride as your only supposed to ride on paths on the Reserve...
Lovely light as it neared sunset at 6pm as i headed inland and over the hill back to the car...
Here is some film i did with the Go pro camera, using the chest cam and mono pod as a stick.
