Cycle to the coast with friends...

That Doh!!! moment when you sit down in a cafe after an ace cycle and thinking getting a film clip of the food and you have another film in the can and discover you left the lens cover on your helmet mounted Go Pro!!!, luckily i had 7 phone pics and Phil had been filming with his Go Pro mounted on his handlebar and did some Drone flying and so i had some footage from him i could use to edit up a film and using stills from film some more pics for a decent lenght blog post,

Another dry day typical of February this year and an air frost first thing then by midday the temps soared many days to record breaking temps for February all over the UK.
As often we had a cool onshore easterly so never really felt the warmth if near the coast. The conditions were more typical of April/May when temps are more normally like this and that is the time of year when the Sea Haar rolls in as the cool sea air meets the warm land air. I was telling Chris  and Anne about the Haar and just saying today i would not be surprised if the Haar rolled in today as we felt it warm cycling through the woods then felt the cold sea air as we neared the coast,

Chris and Anne were visiting for a few days and they had been out in their Yorkshire home mud plugging conditions many days so to visit here must have been a revelation as dust rose from the tyres...

Far out in the North sea on the skyline was a cloud bank, unknown to us was a huge Haar bank that had just engulfed North Berwick a couple of miles NW from Peffersands...

Chris soon had his Drone airborne and filmed over the old Coastguard station - a hut when i was a kid, now just one wall and floor and a couple of telephone poles, you will see it still marked on Ordnance Survey maps...

The wreck of the steamship the SS Poderosa wreck on the Car rocks offshore from the Coastguard and WW2 Pill box location...

You can read about this Wrecks history and see close up pics when i rode across the rocks for an explore of the ship a few years ago at a very low tide;  SS Poderosa Wreck visit...

I text ed Chris who was out cycling and also M that we could meet in the Cafe in approx 45mins, then i started to cycle down the beach where Chris and Anne were waiting, Chris shouted to look behind, i turned around and the coast behind had vanished as a wall of Haar engulfed the coast!, it was an amazing and eerie sight...

By the time we reached the end of the beach the Haar had stopped moving and we rode out into bright sunshine again...

All hungry we peddled to the village cafe and as always a lovely lunch...

Phone pic - this was after i discovered the lens cap on my helmet mounted Go Pro!...

M stayed an hour then headed home and Chris who had joined us accompanied the three of us into Binning Woods before heading home on the John Muir Way...

As the sun dropped so did the temps again as we all rode for home...

Here is film using Phil`s Drone and handlebar footage and a little from me after the cafe!
Song is `Coolverine` byScottish band  Mogwai, such a lovely tune i used last week and using again here....

More soon...
