Thursday evening and were both off on a weeks winter holiday - mostly at home!, and a better forecast had G on her phone and found an airbnb for an evening in Northumberland, the plan was get down there around midday and get an afternoon cycle from Beadnell where we stayed, then next day stop at Bamburgh and ride east to Seahouses, both sections of beaches are spectacular and we have rode them several times and only approx 60 miles/hour 1/4 drive from home it feels like a world away...
We stayed here at
Next Morning we walked around to the stable cafe on the premises and had a full English breakfast, fuelled for the day we drove west along to Bamburgh and free parking at the high carpark near the Golf Club we were soon on the bikes and down onto the coast...
Here is a film of the Boat going down for its first launch...
Impressive bit of kit!, after an ice cream we peddled back to Bamburgh and enjoyed a tail wind push along the beach...
Here is film of our beachride...
Packed up and heading home we parked up for a short walk to go look for the Bamburgh Cold War Royal Observer Corps (ROC) monitoring post (bunker) on the hill west of Bamburgh..
Easy to find it was sadly sealed with a metal grill - probably another result of the Covid masses taking to the countryside before everything re opened - remember the camping debacle on the coasts?, shame this as pictures of this post showed it in decent condition, Cloud posters etc on walls...
Great views up here from this post...
A fun 2 days away only an hour ish from home...
More soon...
Looks a great wee break. What about lowering a GoPro on a string into the ROC bunker?
