Surlys new fatbike unveiled at Euro Bike Show

Surly had been rumoured to be making some new stuff including a chunky 4" tyre for the Pugsley and of interest to myself a 2nd even fatter tyred bike to run along side its Pugsley, some info had been leaked out and the MTBR fatbike nerds got quite excited, me included!,
More fat = more float, and that can only be a good thing for the beach!,
So Surly posted up a pic on there blog, it did not really let you see much and they revealed a few specs, like 28mm offset- the pugsley has 17mm offset (this keeps the drive chain clear of the fat tyre),

Then they posted this pic on there blog, The Moonlander,
check out the size of those tyres!...

So those interested have been waiting until Euro Bike Trade show in Germany this week to see pics of the complete bike that will be available,

and here it is!...

It has caused a lot of interest, no wonder!, 14 secs until someone dared touch the tyre for fear of being fazered like a Star Trek extra...

Nice `spacey` paint...

Like the pugsley it uses a 100mm Bottom Bracket and a standard 135mmm MTB rear hub but has 28mm offset (pugsley is 17mm offset)...

Check the `No Step` sticker on the front mech!...

That 28mm offset is needed because of these huge 4.7" `Big Fat Larry` tyres!...

These are mounted up on a new 100mm (4") drilled single wall (light for size) rim suitably named `clown shoe` which should give a 5" tyre width...

This thing will be amazing in really soft sand and in the dunes,
The range of new tyres are available now, most of the other new stuff coming soon,
Moonlander frames, rims and cranksets will be available in October/November, and the complete bike in December, gonna be a long 3 months....

If Scotsman Kirkpatrick Macmillan (1812 - 1878), the inventor of the pedal bicycle could see this he would probably never believe anything like this would be possible, But this thing is real!... we just have to wait to be able to get one...
