Cycle to Tyne Estuary...

The harvest this year has been a let down as far as stubble field cycling goes as there has hardly been any fields left for several days with bales, a classic East Lothian scene usually at this time of year,
As soon as fields are cut they have been baled and usually the same day the bales are lifted, but many fields the straw has been shredded, no no pics so far this year of endless fields of round bales shadowed in the early evening low sunshine this year...
Some years harvest is like this, usually because of wet weather, not sure why this year,

So just getting on with coastal cycling as usual, tide times are still the same in line with the Moon, nothing changes them...

We cycled out to the River Tyne Estuary this morning  passing one Combine at Hedderwick, today we followed the salt marsh along the Tyne Mouth to the old stone  sided metal footbridge to cross to Tyninghame...

Often you will see Otter tracks on the mud banks here but no sign of the Otters today having been along here between tides...

The old Estate bridge is getting a bit hard up these days and needs the wooden boards replacing,
In this modern world of folk who are great at getting themselves into trouble slipping or tripping up when out in the outdoors and then phoning emergency services with a hurry finger - you read about this all the time on local Facebook pages,  the bridge will probably soon get closed because of some incident,
In the meantime it's a great shortcut across to Tyninghame from the John Muir Way route...

Wee film, Song is `Ascension` by Tycho,

More soon...
