An Open Week of Cycling...

The heatwave continues and it has been a roasting week! -:)
Still no rain here in East Lothian. Been hand watering greens all day at work and the whole coast of golf courses are white esp the links...
The 142nd Open Golf Championships at Muirfield at Gullane this week and loads of road closures and no waiting/parking stuff all around Gullane. Traffic has been ok with most visitors arriving via buses from car parks around the county.
The furnace heat and dry winds have turned the most historic of Golf competitions into how it should be in Links Golf, a really hard challenge. half way on Friday evening and only 9 were under par...This is how the Links were last in the heatwave of the 1970s, and were always like this before modern irrigation.  And the older more experienced players are proving their experience is what it takes...
I won`t be going to watch sadly, at nearly £80 a day it is way too expensive, but will watch a bit on TV with my dad at the nursing home...

Been some other good things happening, like a bike lane from Aberlady to Gullane on the coast road -:)

A wee pootle on the singlespeed KramPug, across the Reserve...

The east along the old road from Gala Hill (Quarry Corner)...

The ground is so dry the old road surface is showing through, never seen this before...

Parched -:)

Open fever...

Gullane No 1 18th green...

Trish has loads of ice cream in at COOL`s  for the weekend and open to 9pm -:)

Not for bicycles though... -:)
