Return of the east coast haar..

Classic east coast weather for this time of year as colder easterly air meets warmer air on land and harr forms,  sometimes in small clouds that drift by, or as a solid cloud bank, usually burns off during the day then comes back in at night when cooler,
Sunday was all fogged in and the easterly breeze was cold so i took M for a cycle along to Shell Bay then Gosford bay...

We rode around to Gosford Bay and the sun started to break through...

Sitting in the baking heat it was like a different day to an hour ago!...

I love how the trees here are burned by the prevailing westerly salt air from the sea...

It was nice and quiet with the coast road closed for the Edinburgh marathon, and the runners all been and gone now...

Back at the van and it was back into the harr and cool again!, it was like we had found a little micro climate!, at least when it`s cool like this you can light the stove in the evenings...

Mid Week Cycle; East Links to Canty Bay...

What an amazing summer it has been and still only July -:)
Still no heavy rain in 6 weeks despite a weather forecast of thunderstorms.
A sea Haar came in last night.
Today at work we were engulfed in Haar that blew across the hill in the light easterly breeze...

Sea Haar is the Scottish name for an  East Coast mist which usually occurs when cold sea air meets warmer land temperatures, often it drifts inland and back out to sea in a light breeze usually during warm conditions like this heat wave we are having and in springtime when land temperatures start to rise.  It is very cooling and so nice to work in. I love it for cycling on the coast. often it is not great for filming or pictures so black and white is best.

I hoped the Haar would still be in after work but it cleared out off shore into the Forth leaving a strange overcast sky. Down to North Berwick and i rode east along the coast.
A bald rear SURLY Larry tyre that has done over 3000 miles has done its tour of duty, need to refit the Nate tyres...

Offshore the Bass Rock appeared out of the retreating Haar...

Parched grass...

Sky is clearing and getting brighter...

Great how much fun you can have in a mile of coastline single track trail above the coast around the East Links to Canty Bay...

The sand here is different to the west and east beach sand at North Berwick, larger particles, be good Links Golf fairway bunker sand -:)

Amazing colours in the evening light....

Too high tide to continue, and better on the big Moonlander from here and with grippy Five Ten shoes, leave that for another ride...

Strange sky with the Haar offshore...

Mid week so a couple of ciders from the supermarket on the way home. Be harvest time starting in a month...
