Autumn in Binning Woods...

Lovely colours this now in Binning Woods, i rode along across frozen ground avoiding the worst of the mud on the trails which are soaked after recent days of heavy rain showers...

Around the woods are for the 1st winter ride able on the new all weather paths put in over the last two years.  This ride is one of my night time rides so it is nice to show it in daylight pictures...

Beach tree- `Queen of the forest` and although light cloud this morning the leaves almost glow in the light...

The lone Copper beach in Bruce`s Circle standing proud, some of Dads ashes are here under the tree, Beach trees were his favourite trees, esp in Autumn, stopped off here at the bench for 5 minutes to say hello and tell him were all ok and life is good...

On down towards the northern edge of the wood...

The perimeter trail along the north of the wood is unsurfaced and wet in places  though the beach leaves provide a carpet to ride along ok...

Riding home along a short section of road after a real muddy field boundary trail and a low sun came out from the clouds. Wish i was back on the wood again where the light now would be amazing in the Autumn gold...

Shimano Alfine 8 speed hub drive chain ideal for winter conditions, i don't often wash bikes but having daylight to do so makes it an easy quick job to do...

Clocks go back...

Spring forward...Fall back...

Sunday morning 2am the clocks went back an hour, so an extra hour in bed for free!, but it means a start of the countdown to the winter equinox and the shortest daylight hours.
In a few weeks it will be dark by 4pm so not many more daylight film opportunities  mid week Monday to Thursday after work, but still plenty of off road cycling to do and fun with the lights on cycling deserted trails. The weekend both days i rode around local trails near my house that will be night time rides midweek on the green frame Surly KramPug 29+ wheeled Alfine hub bike that is my winter ride now winter is coming and road salt etc...

Balgone Lake

Not many Lakes in Scotland-It`s full of Lochans, but there is 3 Lakes in East Lothian if you look at the Ordnance Survey map; Smeaton Lake, Pressminnon Lake, and Balgone Lake...

On across the remaining old Pilgrims route near Whitekirk...

And in a nearby stubble field several thousand Pink Foot Geese grazing...

Home and nice and warm 3 season clothing; Shimano Gore Tex MT90 boots and mid layer Bridgedale socks...

And 3 season Fox gloves...

Sunday dawned clear with a light frost and the trees are starting to change to Autumn gold...

Goats at Seacliff...

And a high tide at the harbour...

Home via Gleghornie Farm
