Driftwood firewood off the beach...

Good to get out on the Pugsley again as been neglecting Fatbikes lately, but sometimes its good to have a wee break as when you return to doing a hobby you really appreciate it for what it is, I took the Fat BOB trailer and we did a loop around John Muir Country Park, and I gathered some wood for the garden burner, its fun and a wee workout doing so a win win thing to do!

Beachcombing for Wood...

Out again with the Fat BOB trailer and today we went to fetch some drift wood logs to take home to make Swedish Candles for when sitting out in the Garden...

Ah your saying what's that bike I`m on?, its the Large size first edition Pugsley that I gave a make over in true Apocalypse style... more on it on the next Blog...

Loaded up we headed home where I finished one of the candles before the heavens opened...

Return of the FatBOB Trailer!...

Been a while since i used the Fat BOB trailer to haul hardwood logs washed into John Muir Park from the river Tyne.  You can read Here... how i modded the trailer to take a fat wheel,
With the new van picked up on Friday after work, and a cordless battery operated chainsaw i am all geared up for harvesting firewood on the coast...

Saturday morning and paid my £2 to park and  enjoyed a quiet coastline with just the odd runner and dog walker...

More erosion here...

With in 2 hours or so i had ran 6 loads of logs,  some the right size for trailer, some i sawed up and had a good load in the van...

Here is some film i shot with the Go Pro,

Surly Pugsley & FAT BoB Trailer; gathering fire wood, JMP,

Friday and a long weekend so a lie in then a bike ride!,
Combine harvesters were driving to fields as i drove to John Muir Park to do a bit harvesting of my own and see if there was any hard wood washed up in the bay to lift with the FAT BoB trailer for firewood....

The beaches were pretty must clean of sizable logs to lift, better here in the winter for smaller stuff...

With the money from selling the Surly Cross-Checki bought a new helmet, a Lazer Revolution, and a Go Pro HERO SESSION camera, will blog up about these later once used them a bit...

2 large armour plating sheets lie near the remains of what is belived to be a Matilda tank, or a half track left after WW2...

Look at the armour piercing holes through it!...

Around the point and here is why i want to buy a cordless battery powered chainsaw!,
I can legally use one on the coast to log stuff like this down to fit the trailer...

First load on with the sighted logs passed on the way out to the point...

Second load and a nice big slab of Oak...

Only two trailer loads home today but it all helps...

I was keen to shoot some film with the new Go Pro HERO 4 Session camera,  sound is ok even out in the wind and the one button on/off to film is fool proof,  shot in 1080p 60 fps

Mk 1 Purple Surly Pugsley Update...

Tuesday after work and the Purple Pug and Fat BOB trailer are packed in the car to go to Tyninghame beach to haul fire wood washed into the river tyne estuary during winter spates. May as well take it home for some free heat!, Mowgli came along for a run on the coast...

Back home with a boot load of logs to saw and it was time to forget about that as a package had arrived...

From UK No1 Surly dealer Charlie Bike Monger...

Inside was a free T shirt...

And these two cardboard boxes i ordered at the weekend...

Time for some crisps and a few ciders-as i swapped the old Pugsley`s tyres...

And all done- Gumwall Nates!

Time for some Surly fun and  those tyre boxes come in handy as helmets :)

Cheers!...

Happy that the old Pugsley has the tyres now which suit it`s retro theme...

Spare set of (Regular) Nates  now, unreal the little wear on these for having 1500+ miles now on them...

Back to today's task and sawing and splitting that firewood!...

The old Pug is finally sorted!
