Beachride to Goswick

We loaded the Fatbikes into g's van and headed for the day to Northumberland and although a 2 pm high tide enjoyed a beachride from Cocklawfoot along the coast and around to Beal and the causeway crossing to Holy Island which was closed with the high tide for the rest of the afternoon...

You will see in the film it was one of those big sky days and we cruised along enjoying the warm weather, stopping at the WW2 buildings on the way...

People were at the crossing and I think they must have thought the crossing would soon be open!, they would have at least a 4 hour wait!....

Returning on the Coastal route path we were back at the van in an hour or so after a lovely 13 mil cycle along a stunning coastline under a huge sky...

Wee film...

Beachride Sand Therapy

It was good to get out again if briefly a cycle on the coast between what seemed to be a lull in a horrid Lergy cold which I have now had since before Christmas. Now weirdly in that time I tested positive for Covid for 5 days yet get this - those days very when I have felt my best in the last 4 weeks!, so try work that one out!

Apologies again for a lack of pictures but I was out a solo ride with G working so I was just filming...

Winter beachriding continues....

Back out again at JMCP on the Fatbikes and today a mid day high tide, tumbling surf and winter sun made for a lovely light on the coast, a lot of debris washed down the river tyne in the estuary here and washed up out the sea after a crazy amount of rain at the end of last week.

No pics today as I was just filming,

Saturday cycling...

Saturday and we were out again at JMCP for the usual couple of hours to stretch the legs, it was milder than late and now were into October Autumn is truly here as leaves start to drop from trees  and nights and early morning the temperatures are on the decrease...

I love Autumn and Winter for beachriding as I love getting wrapped up and getting out in the colder temperatures of Winter on Fatbikes where the coast is often quieter and certainly more devoid of people who seem to not wander far from their cars in the coastal car parks...

We had a fun cycle and happy we were soon heading home with another easy 7 miles just out cruising not sweating but keeping the legs spinning...

Back on the beach!

Back out on the Surly Puglanders - that's the Surly Pugsley 2.0`s with the huge Surly Moonlander wheels comprising 100mm wide rims and 4.8" tyres at 4 and 5 psi giving the biggest available float on sand for a Fatbike,,,

Buzzed by a low flying swan we were back out along our local beaches at John Muir Country Park (JMCP) and being a Monday was real quiet...

Belhaven pond is again hosting some local celebrities - 8 this year...
