Back Beachriding to Tyninghame!

 

Good to get back out cycling again on the coast!, it was a sunny but cool easterly onshore breee once again, but we enjoyed going across to Tyninghame and enjoying a near deserted coast!

Fatbike cycle across Buist`s Embankment to Tyninghame...

 

Not every day you see a badger up close in daylight!, but it was one of todays delights out a solo cycle with G asleep after nightshifts...

With the buckthorn recently cut back at the start of the Buist`s Embankment west of John Muir Park I decided to ride across to Tyninghame, 

Not a lot of pictures today as I was doing a lot of filming as planned to add some audio once it was edited up.... 

Once along the banking and over the bridge I did some beachcombing - found another WW2 Hispano 20mm shell casing then went and had a look at the WW2 Machine gun pill box that some once recently cleared the encroaching sea buckthorn and all the rubbish that had been left in them has been tidied up - which is good as they relics of the WW2 should be left clean and tidy and for people with an interest in WW2 local history to go have a look at...

Back across to The John Muir Way trail and a few nasty Brambles wee trimmed by myself so having added my bit of trail tidying work headed for home....

Post Storm Arwen; cycle at Tyninghame Woods...

 

A cycle across the Tyne in Tyninghame to see how much damage has been caused from the storm, and again quite a few trees down but nothing like at JMCP...

Quite a few down at Willowbrae Point...

Secret trail was only blocked requiring a detour here so there is still accessible trails to cycle...

Another backdoor local overnight camp...

 

September and typical weather for harvest time, often mist and v light rain and we were in too minds wether to meet P and A for a local overnight camp at Tyninghame with the forecast unsettled but decided to just go as soon as I was home from work on Thursday and we set off along the John Muir Way (JMW) across to Tyninghame where we met P and A and cycled out to camp at Sandy Hirst Point...

We cooked up dinner on our gas stove while P fired up his box stove on a flat rock and bring cast sandwich toaster made toasties  then tents pitched before dark we lit a Swedish Candle I brought, bulky but light it would give us a couple of hours light and we sat toasting marshmallows and hip flasks as the tide receded and the air was filled with calls of birds feeding on the salt marsh...

Next morning it was still misty but warm and dry and we again cooked breakfast...

The remains of  theSwedish candle now cooled was broke up and we left no trace of any fire, unlike the rock circle fire pits people insist on building in the woods - this is not responsible wild camping doing so...

P cooked Pancakes while we had our usual Porridge in a Bacofoil bag soaked from the previous evening...

Fed and packed away G and I went a wonder along the coast line and we gathered a lot of sea coal, like the dry Scots Pine wood of the Swedish candle we brought it too was light so it was taken home to use on the Garden fire box some evening soon...

Packed up and leaving no trace of our overnight camp we soon headed off...

Once through Binning Woods G and I headed down to follow the John Muir Way back home, while P and A headed back to their van at the Park...

Back out a cycle with friends again!...

 

Great to get out again with friends for a cycle and catch up, and with P and A up again for a few weeks in their camper van and C we all met up for a cycle around Binning Wood then Tyninghame Woods being a midday high tide and it was like the pre Covid days with near deserted car parks and people, no destructive camping with folk taking the P... chopping down trees and cra..ng in the woods...

Guess the wet forecast and everything being open again has chased them away back to their usual pre Covid lives - BBC Weather should forecast rain for every weekend!, best of it was it never really came to anything despite grey skies and moisture in the air! ha ha!

Not much else to say, except great feeling like were back to some sort of `normal` again...
